South Africa’s most loved SUV range has been improved to boast even more advanced styling and connectivity features. Upfront, the ultra-aggressive, attention-grabbing pontoonshaped bumper houses an enlarged grille and distinctive trim for the headlights. All models are now adorned with auto-levelling LED headlights and fog lamps, while 2.8l models also feature rear fogs. The Fortuner’s side profile is significantly enhanced by its blacked-out side pillars to create the impression of a floating roof and larger cabin area. Furthermore, the side mirrors on all models are colour-coded, retractable, electrically-operated and house the side indicator. Befitting of a high-performance vehicle such as the Fortuner, the vehicle’s integrated roof rails and aerodynamic stabiliser fins are designed to minimise drag and optimise driving stability. At the rear, LED-operated stop lamps make the car visible for ultimate safety. Underlining the Fortuner’s premium experience is the inclusion of an electrically* opening and closing rear door. The Fortuner’s more powerful 2.8l turbodiesel engine lets you flatten curves and devour straights on the way to your destination. Specially tuned for both economy and power, and featuring an upgraded turbocharger, the engine now produces a prodigious 150 kW of power between 3 000-3 400 r/min and 500 Nm of torque between 1 600-2 800 r/min, for maximum drivability across a wider spread of revs. 2.8l models are exclusively available with a six-speed automatic paddle-shift transmission. The 2.4l engine develops 110 kW of power at 3 400 r/min and 400 Nm of torque between 1 600-2 000 r/min. This model can be ordered with either a six-speed manual or automatic transmission, for a more engaged driving experience. The fitment of a high-efficiency turbocharger and intercooler to all models ensures the delivery of exceptional fuel economy and power under all driving conditions. The 2.8l engine is also optimised with a balance shaft to reduce booming and vibrations during idling and acceleration.
